Located on Princess Street, Cataraqui Heights is a campus of care community that delivers a simplified lifestyle so that seniors have more time to do what they love. The community is conveniently located near the intersection of Midland Road and Princess Street, close to an abundance of amenities and services within walking and driving distance, including a grocery store and pharmacy right across the street. The central location is also just a few minutes from Gardiner’s Road, where a wide variety of shops and restaurants, including Cataraqui Centre mall, can be found. Safe, clean, and easy to get around, Kingston is an ideal place to retire.
Levels of Care
Cataraqui Heights offers a full continuum of services as part of its commitment to Age-in-Place living, including seniors’ apartments, independent living suites, assisted living, and secure memory care options. Assisted Living and Memory Care come with customized service plans up to full levels of nursing care.
Accommodation Options
The residence offers a variety of spacious and accessible suites, including one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus den, and two-bedroom options. All suites are equipped with either a kitchenette or a full-sized kitchen with all appliances. In-suite laundry is available in apartments and independent living suites. Suites are self-contained with individual climate controls and have a private walk-out balcony, except in assisted living and memory care. Accessible bathrooms with walk-in showers, window coverings, wheelchair-accessible bathrooms with grab rails, and emergency call systems in each room of the suite are standard features. The residence is pet-friendly.
Support Services
The residence provides 24/7 care and support, with pharmacy services including prescription delivery, and mobile blood pressure clinics. There is an intercom and emergency call system in all suites, safety checks three times per day at mealtime, and hourly overnight checks. State-of-the-art sprinkler systems and smoke detectors, heat, smoke, and CO detectors are installed in all suites and common areas. Wide and well-lit hallways with grab rails and emergency pull-cords ensure safety and accessibility.
Amenities
The residence features beautifully designed outdoor areas with a patio and swing, conveniently located across the street from a large public park. The grand entrance has ample seating, natural light, and a warm fireplace. There is a well-appointed exercise room with modern equipment and a yoga area, a movie theatre with plush-sized chairs and movie-style popcorn, and a beauty parlour and barber shop with an on-site esthetician, massaging pedicure chair, and manicures. Private secure mailboxes, a peaceful non-denominational chapel, and a general store are also available.
Activities
Residents can join adventure-filled outings on the bus, take in a movie at the spacious theater, or enjoy a relaxing stroll with friends. A wide range of social, athletic, cultural, and hobby activities, clubs, dances, and live entertainment are offered. The full-time Director of Health and Wellness organizes craft classes, exercise classes, bingo, day trips, and outings regularly. The activity calendar is published monthly. There is a wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus for outings, day trips, local churches, and resident medical appointments. Limo service is available by appointment. Daily health and wellness programs include popular activities such as cocktail hour, live entertainment events, card games, religious services, and mystery drives. The large heated indoor swimming pool offers instructor-led aquafit weekly, and there is a weekly instructor-led fitness program. The bistro and games room include a pool table, shuffleboard, air hockey, and Wii games. Many resident-led programs such as a choir, gardening group, walking group, knitting group, resident council, and fire committee are available. A multi-purpose room with a full kitchen is used for crafts and baking.

Dining at Cataraqui Heights is a pleasure in the full-service dining room with high-quality service and a warm ambiance. The culinary team, led by a Certified Red Seal Chef, prepares delicious, nutritious meals and snacks daily to suit individual tastes and dietary needs. A full salad bar is available daily, and various dietary needs are accommodated. Restaurant-style service is provided, and a private family dining room is available for friends and family. The bistro offers special events and options for those looking to spend time in a more intimate atmosphere. Residents can also enjoy cooking or baking in the modern activity kitchen or watch a Chef’s Table presentation. Family and friends are always welcome to visit in the private dining room, which boasts a full kitchen, family seating area, and fireplace.
